Welcome to Hogwarts! We, the Professors and Staff here at Hogwarts, welcome you to a brand new year. We hope you enjoyed the Welcome Feast, commonly referred to by Muggles as a “Kick-Off Party.”
But the party is over now, and it’s time to put your quills to parchment and begin anew. I have high expectations for you all this year, and I know you have expectations of yourself. If you apply yourself and work hard, you will reach your goals.
Don’t expect to have to go this alone. Your peers are here to help. Just look at Miss Granger—she is always willing to help tell you the right answers.
Now it is time to defodio your writing necessities, whether it’s quill and parchment, or those strange Muggle devices called “electronics” — Help me out here, Mr. Potter. What are they called? Oh, yes. Of course. “Laptops” and “tablets” and “alphas.” Yes, those are thewriting instruments I’ve heard about in my time out in the Muggle world. They likely don’t even require a flagrate spell in order to write on them. Strange things, those “electronics” are. I would, however, recommend that you not use geminio on your words. While that may increase your word count, it’s just duplication and won’t further your story!
Make sure you finite incantatum that inner editor of yours, or at least put your inner editor away and colloportus that door so it can’t get out!
Now, go forth and make us proud. We know you can do it! And don’t forget, your peers are here to help. Below is a class schedule for you to meet up with your peers. I highly suggest these “write-ins,” as the Muggles call them.
Muggles. Such fascinating creatures, Muggles. Though I still prefer to stay here in the magical world. Speaking of Muggles, you might want to know that the Muggles are participating in the weird ritual of changing their clocks twice a year coming up this Sunday. They are setting their clocks back an hour, trying to chase down some extra daylight hours. This might be of importance to you if you have any dealings in the Muggle world.
Another Muggle thing coming up is an election. I’ve never been one for Politics—I much prefer teaching. But Politics are still a way of life, even here in the Magical world. The Muggles, however, are looking to elect their equivalent of Minister of Magic on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Voting is important, so make your voice heard!
