Hi all, Niassa here…
First off, I want to apologize. I tried to send this out a couple of days ago, and I thought it sent… when I realized I hadn’t had any response, I went back in to double-check, and it appears the original one I sent never went out. Bah!
We try not to send more than one email message per week, and those we try to limit to Sundays. This one was important, however, and we wanted to ensure as many of you saw it as possible—so we made the decision to add an extra email. We hope you understand and don’t mind.
Many of you were interested in our Stanley Write-away and filled out our form. Thank you so much for taking the time to do that. It helped us see that while there was some interest for this year, there is a LOT of interest for a 3-day, 2-night write-away next year. Given the timing, and given my recent accident (long story short, risers collapsed beneath me and I fell, spraining both ankles… wheeeee!), we’ve decided to not move forward with the Stanley for this year. We are already beginning our planning for next year, so for those of you who mentioned you’d be interested for next year, we will be reaching out to you in the coming weeks.
However, we know that many of you have been interested in some kind of all-day write-in/gathering here in town, and so in place of the Stanley Write-away, which would have occurred on Saturday, November 17th, we are looking to host a multi-hour writing frenzy! We are in search of a place that can accommodate us, and we also don’t want to take away from any of the morning Saturday write-ins, so we are looking for something that would begin early afternoon potentially and run until late at night. We are also looking for some place centrally-located or close to public transportation. If you know of any place that might be willing to accommodate us, please let us know! We are hoping to make this a free event, but please know that there may be a nominal fee of $5-10/person if we can’t find a place that would be willing to offer us space for free.
So… what do you think? Would you be interested in a long-day Evening of Writing Furiously? We’d like to get a gauge on how many people would come to this, as it will give us an idea of just how large a space we would need. Would you mind answering this one question survey to let us know? If the embedded link to the survey doesn’t work, here’s the direct link: https://goo.gl/forms/RonKwyjVHOk1Ntrq1
I will be sure to post this email to all of our regular channels: Facebook, Twitter, our blog, etc. I’m also going to post the entirety of this email into a Forum post, to ensure we reach as many people as possible.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. In the meantime, keep on keeping on and wrangling those words! We’ll be back in touch in a few days with our regularly-scheduled information.
Write on? Right on!
